Operating Manual For Project Honeylight
This is the operating manual for Project Honeylight. I will be adding an index and content that match the structure of the Long Game Framework. I started this operations manual in March, 2023, and I plan to finish it in December, 2025. I’m going to tinker around with ideas this year before I make any big moves. Like life, this manual is a work in progress.
Strategy. Customer Profiles. Design. Attention Funnel. 2.0. This is the design of the attention funnel for Project Honeylight. The outcomes of this funnel are to attract different types of people to the project. This design maximizes the utility of the existing assets and creates a pathway to spread my models across various domains.
I’ll be adding content here in the summer of 2023. Welcome to the campaign.
Mark Rubin is at Honeylight Glamping site in Lost City, WV on February 8, 2023.
He plans to demonstrate new ideas about energy and business models at this site.
The place is under construction and was bought in March 2022.
It is a five-minute walk from his original cabin site that be bought in 1985 to launch a global eco-project in 2025.
The site will have six geodesic domes, hot tub, sauna, and nice bathrooms for people to come and learn new ideas.
There is a lab/warehouse/department to take care of the place when Mark is not around.
He is waiting for a contractor to come and build some stuff today.
Mark is starting the orientation for the campaign.
It’s important to start with why. This is why I’m launching Project Honeylight.
This is an overview of Project Honeylight.
It's important to start with "why".
The project is the summation of all of Mark Rubin’s models. He has been translating these models since childhood.
He has been modeling areas like physics, biology, psychology, economics, anthropology, and futurology.
The project combines all these domains into an eco-project.
The project is designed to share what he has learned along the way.
It starts with a children's book called "Honey is Money: The Secrets of the Bees", followed by a board game (BeeBox - the Business of the Bees Board Game) and a business toolkit (BeeBox - the Business of the Bees Life Game).
The book is finished, the board game is under construction, and the business toolkit is being built in a lab in West Virginia.
The project aims to make life easier for people in various ways.
It felt important to try to share what I know.
Project Honeylight starts with a children's book and ends with explaining new ideas about energy transfer to physicists, specifically the mechanics of business systems.
The idea is that invisible systems, like businesses, follow Newton's laws of motion, conserving the energy principle of momentum.
Momentum is conserved as potential money is converted into actual money through a series of gears that represent the value of money and the velocity of money.
The project consists of several modules including a website: honeyismoney.life.
The project aims to create harmony in nature by inspiring thousands of new beekeepers to learn the secrets of bees and create value for themselves and their tribe of bee guardians.
The book "Honey is Money - the Secrets of the Bees" is completed.
The plan is to use the book as a sales funnel for young kids and to create a board game that inspires curiosity and action.
There will be a beekeeper program where a certain percentage of kids who play the board game will go on to buy the actual physical kits and become beekeepers.
Honeylight Glamping will be a place with six geodesic domes, a STEM lab, commercial kitchen, and a marketplace for honey. It will open for business in 2024.
Project Honeylight is comprised of a collection of cross-functionally related concepts that I’m either designing, building, or explaining. These concepts are outlined on four websites:
https://www.markianrubin.life/: This is a collection of all of my ideas. This site is an outline for all of the projects I’ll be developing for the rest of my life.
https://projecthoneylight.life/: This site is where I’m describing and organizing Project Honeylight. This is the “consumer” site.
http://honeyismoney.life/: This is a retail site to sell the future products (honey, book, board game, and BeeBox kits).
https://businessvisualization.com/: This site is where I describe a way to visualize a business in scale models that show the money flowing through various stages of work, the processes that are moving the money, and performance of the people doing the work. I’ve modeled 25 businesses using this approach.
All of these sites will be combined into “Project Honeylight” in May 2023 with the launch of the Lessons from Nature Podcast: Modeling the Secrets of the Bees.
The speaker is discussing the architecture of their project.
They purchased land in 1985 for the project.
The speaker wanted to create a permanent record of their ownership at age 15.
They paid for the land with their own money.
The speaker has experience in modeling business systems.
They have built a dome of rooms and a hot tub in the woods.
Other features include a smoker grill, greenhouse, bees, water tank, solar panels, and pumping systems.
The speaker had planned to build a cabin but the builder stole their money.
The cabin is delayed, so the speaker has a camper on the site.
The speaker plans to discuss the details of the project's architecture and how they will create the future.
The speaker is at the future site of his cabin, where his previous cabin builder stole his money.
He has a deck and a camper that he's using as a place to sleep and cook.
He plans to record the architecture of the project here.
He's going to plant a ton of flowering fruit trees in about a month.
He has a greenhouse and bees, but only one hive survived due to a lack of food in the woods.
Availability of resources is an important module in his "Honey is Money" project.
Lessons from nature are important and all around us.
He lost 10 hives on the other side for the same reason.
He plans to plant plenty of flowers this year for the bees.
The speaker emphasizes the importance of understanding the availability of resources for business and nature.
The speaker has spent 30 years backpacking old roads and civilizations to learn about the architecture of things that work.
The speaker maps everything they know to a coordinate on a dome geodesic structure, with nouns at the nodes and verbs on the actions.
The speaker's manifest exists in the dome on a triangle called Manifest, which is the intersection of desire, attract, and experience.
The speaker uses the long game framework, which goes through a series of steps starting today and ending with the future, to organize their project.
The long game framework starts with the rules, values, principles, and practices.
The next step is vision, which is the dream.
The third step is strategy, which is how the vision will be achieved.
The fourth step is tactics, which are the specific actions to be taken.
The fifth step is execution, which is taking the tactics and making them happen.
The speaker believes that by following these steps, they can create a world where people live in harmony with the rest of nature.
The project management tool used is called Hive, which is configured to match the Navy standard based on the dome structure.
The project is structured on the dome and projects are located on specific positions on the dome.
There is a Google Drive that matches the same naming standard and structure as Hive.
Files live in Google Drive with the same naming standard as they exist in Hive, and they're linked.
There is a chat architecture within the projects that allows chat threads directly tied to the project and visible only to assigned project members.
Email is not preferred as it is considered worthless.
Figma and Google suite of tools are also used for storyboarding and other purposes.
The system is super organized, scalable, and easier to manage than using some other random way.
Zoom is used for scheduling.
The goal is to keep it as low tech as possible.
The next module in the architecture is the framework, the operating system for running a business.
The entrepreneur operating system (EOS) is a framework that the speaker invested heavily in learning.
One of the good things about EOS is the meeting design and architecture, which helps people collaborate effectively.
People aren't taught how to have a meeting, so most meetings are terrible.
The idea is to design a way of collaborating on a distributed project that can work together around goals and outcomes.
The hardest thing is getting people to be on time for a meeting or even picking a meeting date and time.
The speaker wants to design a system that minimizes interruptions and meetings for the sake of having meetings.
High has a master timeline on the Gantt chart, which can be used to organize projects.
The speaker wants to maximize productivity and minimize interruptions in meetings.
The speaker also wants to keep it fun.
Queen Bee Projects is a for-profit LLC that will handle payment for hired contractors.
Contracts will be used to outline the scope, start/end dates, and cost of projects.
Contracts will be simple, with bullet points outlining terms.
Payment will be adjusted if scope changes during the project.
Payment schedule requires a two-week timeframe to process payments.
One-day payment deadlines are stressful for the speaker.
A duty payment system will be used to facilitate project payments.
Working together is necessary for the success of the project.
Flexibility is important to make the partnership work.
Communication will be essential to maintain a successful partnership.
